African-inspired vegan snack brand Chika’s has unveiled a new trio of non-HFSS Rice Crisps that are under 100 calories. Chika’s Rice Crisps are made with popped white rice and natural seasonings and are available in three flavors: BBQ, Salt & Vinegar and Sweet Chilli. Through its Snacks4Change program with World Vision, Chika is donating 1p from every pack to empower women in Africa with education. Chika’s Rice Crisps will launch into Co-op, Nisa, Delicious Ideas, CLF, Cambridge Juice, Epicurium and DDC Foodservice from January 2023.

Indian Startup Uses Dehydrated Produce For Its Snacks

Indian-based food processing startup Rynsan Creation Pvt. Ltd. is using solar dehydration technology to create its dried fruit and vegetable snacks. Rynsan Creation uses the whole fruit and seasons it with spices and honey. Its products, such as Spicy Dried Pineapple and Dried Wild Apple, are sold in several general stores throughout Meghalaya. Rynsan Creation aims to build upon its product range and expand its distribution across the country.

Large Snack Production Company Takes Interest In Sorghum

According to the U.S. Grains Council, a team from a leading food and beverage production company recently visited North Dakota and Kansas to learn more about product development using sorghum. The team spent time learning about the U.S. sorghum market, available varieties, sorghum composition and production practices, while also meeting with potential suppliers. The group was also interested in looking at the science of sorghum used in their snacks, particularly on its extruding and puffing qualities.

Popcornopolis Partners With Takis To Launch Takis Fuego Flavor

Gourmet popcorn brand Popcornopolis has partnered with spicy rolled tortilla chip brand Takis Snacks to create a new popcorn offering, Popcornopolis Takis Fuego. The snack is made with 100% American-grown, non-GMO corn popped in coconut oil and seasoned with hot chili pepper and lime. To promote the launch, Popcornopolis will be working with influencers to create unique recipes and content tied to the overarching theme of 'Make Your Taste Buds Pop.'
