European Granola Producer Reports Rising Demand For Gluten-Free Choices

European granola producer The Nuts and Dried Fruits Company (NDFC) has experienced a rising demand for its gluten-free granola. When the company expanded its production last year, it created a larger separate gluten-free facility to meet demand. NDFC has also experienced a decline in demand for organic granola. As consumers are looking to lower their costs, organic granola is no longer a priority. However, consumers seem more willing to accept a premium on gluten-free granola, mostly due to health and medical reasons.

Consumers To Continue Snacking In 2023

This year’s “What’s Trending in Nutrition” survey from Pollock Communications and the publication Today’s Dietitian, included responses from 757 registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) regarding what they believe consumers will value in 2023. The RDNs predicted that consumers will still be snacking as much as they were over the past two year due to boredom, comfort and working from home. They also predicted the leading ingredients that may be perceived as “superfoods” for the year, including ancient grains, aquatic greens, blueberries, fermented foods, leaf greens, nuts and seeds.
