Popcorn Rises In Popularity

Popcorn is becoming a popular snack food as consumers look for healthier and more versatile alternatives to traditional snacks. Global research and technology company Technavio forecasts a $5.6 billion rise in the global ready-to-eat popcorn market size between 2021 and 2026, and Mondelez International research found that over half (53 percent) of consumers eat crisps, popcorn and pretzels at least once a week, a five-point jump since 2019. The versatility of popcorn means companies can experiment with bolder and innovative flavors. Cookie and Candy Pop partners with brands such as Fruity Pebbles and Nutter Butter to create its low-calorie flavored popcorn offerings and Smartfood launched a Krispy Kreme flavor inspired by an enlisted brainstorm panel of Gen Z consumers. Nutri V Launches Upcycled Vegetable Puffs

Nutri V has launched its first B2C offering: upcycled vegetable puffs. The snack is available in three varieties: Broccoli, Cauliflower and Pumpkin. Nutri V is a partnership between vegetable producer Fresh Select and Australia’s national science agency CSIRO. The company was previously supplying vegetable powder to food manufactures and plans to make it available to customers.

Kellogg’s Launches Crunchy Nut Barista Edition Cereal

Kellogg’s Crunchy Nut Granola is launching a new Barista Edition Chocolate Mocha flavored variety. The high-fiber cereal is infused with coffee and contains milk chocolate curls and sliced almonds. Kellogg’s Crunchy Nut Granola Barista Edition is available in Waitrose from next week, with other stores to follow, priced at £2.99.

Sweet potato chip brand Jackson’s has unveiled new Farmhouse Ranch and Spicy Salsa Verde flavors to its line of vegan chips made with Avocado Oil. The Spicy Salsa Verde flavor is an updated version of its previous Spicy Tomatillo flavor. The refreshed Spicy Salsa Verde is available immediately nationwide and Farmhouse Ranch will be released nationally upon impending Project Non-GMO verification.

Low and Slow will be launching its Hickory Smoked Chips in grocery stores within the next few months. While most barbeque chips are flavored with liquid smoke, Low and Slow lightly seasons its potato, corn and tortilla chips and smokes them in barbeque smokers. Low and Slow considers itself a barbeque brand that smokes chips instead of meat. The start-up sells its products on its website and is planning to launch new varieties, such as smoked cheese puffs and pretzels.

Vegan marshmallow creme company Funky Mello has debuted Dippsterz, snack packs with a marshmallow creme dip and pretzel sticks. Dippsterz takes a healthier approach to the nostalgic 90s snack Dunkaroos, with less sugar and no artificial ingredients. With its newest product, Funky Mello is donating a portion of sales to organizations that fight food insecurity in youth.
