Another Chapter In The Long History Of Cupcakes

October 29, 2016: 12:00 AM EST
Cupcakes have been around commercially since 1919, when the Hostess CupCake debuted. They became a national sensation in the ‘90s when gourmet versions appeared, but the trend faded in recent years, replaced at least somewhat by other innovative baked treats. But there is still a National Chocolate Cupcake Day, and to celebrate it, food writer Molly Bilinski shared her secret way to eat a cupcake: remove the wrapper, twist the bottom from the cake and place it on top. That puts the icing in the middle, forming a – less messy, icing in every bite – cupcake sandwich.
