Bimbo Bakeries Closes Two U.S. Baking Plants

Bimbo Bakeries USA, the American arm of Mexico’s Grupo Bimbo, announced it will close baking plants Lubbock, Texas, and Sunbury, Pa. Production will be shifted to other facilities in Texas and Pennsylvania. The Lubbock plant, acquired in 1998, has 75 employees who make bread and buns. The Sunbury plant, acquired by BBU as part of its acquisition of Sara Lee’s North American Fresh Bakery business in 2011, has 67 employees who make bread and buns.
