Coca-Cola To Spend $800 Million On Indian Juice Production Through 2022

June 5, 2017: 12:00 AM EST
Coca-Cola said it is investing $800 million through 2022 into fruit pulp and concentrate production in India to enhance the Minute Maid brand with newer variants and put juice into sparkling beverages. The company has also launched a pulpy Minute Maid brand containing Mosambi juice. The investment in juice production dovetails with government initiatives to double farm income over the next five years, fits with trends toward more healthful beverage options, and is a step forward in the company’s global strategy of becoming a "total beverage" company. Overall, the company, its bottlers, and its fruit suppliers and processors in India, will invest $1.7 billion in India’s farming ecosystem through 2020 in an initiative dubbed the “fruit circular economy.” [Image Credit: © Coca-Cola Company ]
