Danone UK & Ireland President Urges UK Government To Expand VAT Coverage On HFSS Items To Address Obesity Concerns

Danone UK & Ireland President, James Mayer, urged the UK government to expand VAT coverage to include more HFSS items to address rising obesity rates. Currently, most groceries enjoy VAT exemptions, except for products like ice cream, soft drinks, and certain biscuits. Mayer also stressed the importance of government intervention to promote healthier options, pointing out the resistance and slow response from some food companies.
