India’s Forbidden Foods Raises $1M, Launches Chips Snack Online, In Stores

July 2, 2020: 12:00 AM EST
The New Delhi-based healthy snacks start-up, backed by an array of investors, has launched a chips snack to compete directly with similar offerings from PepsiCo, Parle, and ITC. BRB Popped Chips, the company says, is "smartphone-friendly," low-fat, and gluten-free, and is available in retail stores, online, and via grocery delivery platforms. A Mondelez International/Harris Poll report released in late 2019 found that more than 75 percent of Indians believe snacking is the future of food, against 53 percent globally. Seventy-seven percent of Indians snack around the same time each day, starting before breakfast and peaking at mid-day, the report said.[Image Credit: © Forbidden Foods Private Limited]
