Latin Americans Are Willing To Pay A Premium For “Natural” Foods, Beverages

August 21, 2020: 12:00 AM EST
A survey of more than 1,500 Latin American consumers conducted by flavor and fragrance maker Symrise found that while price remains an important consideration in the selection of foods, snacks, and beverages, participants said they were willing to pay more for products that “embrace true naturalness.” And that presents marketing opportunities for producers of organic, fresh, and “free from” foods. In the savory and snacks category, consumers look for quality brands and pay particular attention to labels and ingredients. In Brazil, for example, Symrise found that consumers perceive soups as a healthy snack and useful as an option for weight loss. Other key highlights: fruit flavors, especially from the citrus family, are highly preferred; and consumers are avoiding ingredients with scientific or artificial-sounding names; [Image Credit: © Marijana from Pixabay]
