Scottish Consumers Prioritize Value When Purchasing Chips

September 5, 2022: 12:00 AM EST
Potato chips overtrade in Scotland compared with the rest of the U.K., creating opportunities for retailers and suppliers. Tayto Group’s marketing director, Matt Smith, explains that Scottish consumers prioritize value when purchasing chips. Consumers prefer price-marked pack ranges to ensure they aren’t paying inflated prices. Furthermore, Tayto has also seen strong performance in its 30p Fun Snacks and £1 PMP sharing bag ranges. IRI market data for “symbols and independents” in Scotland found that the £1 PMP format grew three times faster than the overall market, at a rate of 16.1 percent compared with 5.2 percent for the year to 25 June.
