Consumers may have turned to buying large volumes of comfort snacks – salty snacks, candy, cookies, and crackers – to relax a little from the pandemic, snack at home, and not have to shop at the grocery store as often. “They have been moving big volumes," one expert said. “All of the top snack products were doing extremely well." But that doesn’t mean they have abandoned better-for-you snacking, according to industry watchers. In fact, the focus on health and wellness, coupled with a desire to explore new flavors and ingredients in snacks, continue to drive snack innovation.
