Spain’s Grupo Apex Snaps Up Mexican Popcorn Brand

October 19, 2022: 12:00 AM EST
Snacks company Grupo Apex has acquired Pop Up popcorn from Grupo Bimbo, a Mexican bakery giant. Terms were not disclosed. The news came just two months after Apex bought Viube Foods, a Spanish manufacturer of vegetable crisps. Apex said the deal fortifies its “leadership in the popcorn business”. Apex is also expanding its production capabilities including extending its plant in Ejea de los Caballeros (Zaragoza), and recent expansion at facilities in Ribaforada (Navarra) and Riego de la Vega (León). It now has nine production sites in Spain and reached EUR100 million in turnover in its latest full financial year.
