The Royal Wedding Has Sparked A Lemon-Elderflower Flavor Trend

May 20, 2018: 12:00 AM EST

The American baker who created the cake for the recent wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has probably touched off a significant trend. Claire Ptak’s lemon-elderflower cake “has already spawned a flood of variations by bakeries in both Britain and the United States,” according to Forbes.com contributing editor Micheline Maynard. Lemon-elderflower (or plain elderflower) flavoring has also arrived on dessert and drinks menus, a trend not likely to fade very soon, thanks to the royal wedding. Expect lemon-elderflower to join lavender, turmeric and other garden-inspired flavors “at your coffee bar, bakery or café,” Maynard writes.[Image Credit: © Kensington Palace, www.Royal.uk]
