US Snack Market Sees Substantial Growth

September 3, 2022: 12:00 AM EST
Large American companies are experiencing soaring snack sales. For example, net sales of Doritos, Cheetos, Ruffles, PopCorners, Smartfood, and SunChips grew by double digits in the second quarter. The U.S. snack market grew from about $116.6 billion in 2017 to an estimated $150.6 billion in 2022, and is forecast to grow to $169.6 billion in 2027, according to Euromonitor International, and includes fruit snacks, ice cream, biscuits, snack bars, candy and savory snacks in the category. The current growth is partially attributed to snacks becoming more expensive, and because people are getting back to their lives outside the home and want food to eat on the go. However, much of the consistent growth is due to an increase in snacking amongst Gen Z and Millenials, who often eat small meals and snacks throughout the day.
