VCs In India Continue To Target Beverage Firms

November 2, 2017: 12:00 AM EST
Venture capital firms in India continue to invest heavily in food and beverage companies because they’ve had good results backing, developing and selling off their projects. Recent activity has included a $6 million investment by Sequoia Capital, Saama Capital, and DSG Consumer Partners in Rakyan Beverages, which produces organic cold-pressed juices under the RAW Pressery brand. A prime example of successful beverage company investment is Verlinvest, which backed Glaceau Smartwater, selling it to Coca-Cola for $4.2 billion, and the $300 million Vita Coco coconut drinks company.
