Chocolate Sales Will Dominate Confectionery Over Next Five Years

August 2, 2013: 12:00 AM EST
Researcher Euromonitor projects that chocolate sales will outperform all other confectionery products globally, including sugar confectionery and gum, over the next five years. Growth in value is being driven by factors such as health innovation, more visible branding strategies, fair trade certification, sophisticated packaging and “a taste for indulgence”. Euromonitor expects that chocolate brand manufacturers that want to maintain differentiation from private label brands will expand significantly the number of fair trade-certified lines available, knowing that consumers around the world will happily pay more for chocolate products with perceived added value.
