Gourmet Junk Food Becoming Popular In UK, Mintel Study Shows

In the UK, 13 percent of diners have tried gourmet junk food, while 46 percent of those who have not tried yet said they would be interested in trying high-end junk food, such as hot dogs with ingredients that are better than the usual variety, according to a survey by Mintel. Data from the market research firm revealed 13 percent of diners said they have tried chip flights, which are a selection of different chips and dips, with another 61 percent saying they would like to try them in the future. Also, 22 percent of respondents said they have tried “build your own” menu offerings, with another 49 percent saying they would also like to try in the future.
