Supplement Testing Firm NSF Acquires DNA-Based Identification Services Company

Dietary supplement testing service company NSF International says it has acquired Richmond, Calif.-based AuthenTechnologies, which provides DNA species identification services to consumer products manufacturers. The company uses a highly specific and sensitive technology capable of identifying most species using shorter DNA segments and validated reference materials, including unexpected contaminants. The company screens for GMOs, allergens, fillers, and filth for companies, including natural product and dietary supplement makers.
